2009 401K Plan Limits

Effective 01/01/2009, employees may contribute up to a maximum of 90% of their compensation, not to exceed $16,500 per year. Participants over age 50 may defer an additional $5,500. Highly compensated employees may be limited by plan testing. The compensation limit for 2009 is set at $245,000.


Colorado Employers and Employees

Effective January 1, 2009, the State of Colorado increased the minimum wage from $7.02 to $7.28. Please update your postings if you haven't already with the attached announcement. Read More


OSHA 300-A Posting Requirement

The U.S. Department of Labor, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) require that careful records be maintained relative to workplace injuries and work related illnesses. Public Law 91-596 requires that this record, the OSHA Form 300A be posted in the workplace February 1st until April 30th and then retained in the establishment for five (5) years. eESI maintains the information for each client location throughout the year and will provide it to you in time for posting or at anytime that OSHA requests the information. Military

Family Medical Leave Act(FMLA) Implements Two Military Entitlements

Effective January 16, 2009, FMLA has been amended to implement two important new military family leave entitlements for eligible specified family members:

(1) Up to 12 weeks of leave for certain qualifying exigencies arising out of a covered military member's active duty status, or otification of an impending call or order to active duty status, in support of a contingency operation, and

(2) Up to 26 weeks of leave in a single 12-month period to care for a covered service member recovering from a serious injury or illness incurred in the line of duty on active duty. Eligible employees are entitled to a combined total of up to 26 weeks of all types of FMLA leave during the single 12-month period. Read More

Aflac Helps When Life Throws You A Curve Ball
