This week’s best includes — no movement on healthcare bill — changes to the I-9, again — advice on dental benefits and outsourcing — plus a free training guide from your partners at eESI.
News From Capitol Hill
In legislative news this week, The Hill reports that the Senate continues to delay voting on a healthcare bill that Senate Republicans hope will replace the ACA (a.k.a. ObamaCare). Rumor now has it that if Congress can’t repeal and replace the current healthcare law, they’ll try for repeal. Senate Majority Leader McConnell assures reporters that by next week, they plan to vote on whether and when they’ll vote on the matter.
Your government hasn’t been sitting idle, though. This week, the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) released a revised Form I-9, the employment eligibility verification form. You can read all about the changes in this July 14 eESI alert. The new Form I-9 7/17/17 N is available for download at https://www.uscis.gov/i-9-central/whats-new.
Mark your calendars! Employers need to transition to this new form no later than September 18, 2017.
Optimizing Benefits and HR
Do your employees understand and use their existing healthcare benefits? SHRM says Dental Benefits are Often Misunderstood, Underused by the one in four employees who have dental coverage. 65% of employees want to know more about their dental coverage. Encouraging preventative care could save employees and their insurers a lot of money.
Changing forms, changing laws, employee wants and needs… Want to lighten your HR responsibilities? Business Pundit author Lisa Huyhn talks about the many benefits of hiring a professional employment organization (PEO) in her article, How to Decide Whether or Not to Outsource Your HR Department.
If you’d like to find out more about the impact a PEO might have on your company and profitability, give us a call at +1(888) 465-1171 – it’s what we do.
